Baby and Child Models - The Lowdown on How to Get Your Child into the Lucrative Baby Modeling Business
“Ohhhhh! She’s so cute! You really should get her into modeling!”
Everywhere we go people gush over my granddaughter because she is so cute - well, let’s be honest (no, I am not biased at all!) - She’s beautiful! What a little personality she has become in her young 3 years of life. Flashing brown eyes that twinkle mischievously as she figures out new ways to twist us all around her fingers, a laugh of pure delight as she discovers something new. So inquisitive! So absolutely drop-dead gorgeous! And so photogenic! (Okay, I confess. I might be a little bit biased :))
Could she be a baby model?
Corky’s beauty and her “little miss actress” personality causes the same reaction from everyone she meets in the shopping mall, in restaurants and on the street. They do a double take and smile broadly. Some even stop her parents and say, “you have such a beautiful little girl! Is she a model?” As a result her mom decided to investigate child modeling and asked for my help.
That’s what got me interested in this subject. So I started doing a bit of digging to find out just what we are in for. I had a lot of questions so it took me awhile … questions I’m sure you have, too, if you’ve considered getting your child into modeling.
A parent should not just jump into child modeling as a good way to make money. Yes, your child can earn money for college or for other things but the child’s well-being is first and foremost consideration. A few questions you must ask and answer:
- Is it morally, spiritually or ethically right to market my child as a model?
- How do you avoid rip offs and scams?
- Should I hire an agency?
- Do I need a manager?
- If yes, to either of the last two questions, how do I find an agency or manager?
- How do I know if they are honest and legitimate?
- Do I need a portfolio of professional photographs?
- How old should my baby be to be a model?
- How much money will they pay for a baby model?
- How do you get started?
- How do you find modeling jobs?
- What should we do with the money she earns? Etc., etc.
With these questions in mind, I went searching for answers. Those answers are ultimately what led me to create this site about baby and child modeling. I have uncovered the “dirt” on agency schemes and scams and found out what a parent needs to know if considering introducing your child to the lucrative modeling business. I have found resources to help parents make the right decisions. I have discovered agencies and agents that will help you get started as well as companies that run photo and talent contests. As the site grows I will share these with you.
