How often are you supposed to feed an outdoor baby bird?
me and my sister found a little baby dove and rescued it today so how often are we supposed to feed it
ok so i am just nursing it back to health cuz it broke both legs, fully feathered but still has its baby feathers and i know exactly how to take care of it i just need to know how often they need to be fed. every 30 min? 2 hr? 5 hr? what?

If at all possible, do put the baby back in the nest. The mother will gladly take it back. If that isn’t a possibility, you can take care of the baby for a couple weeks until it’s ready to be set free. Just make sure the baby has a warm (but NOT hot!) place to stay, safe where it won’t get loose and get stepped on or attacked by a house pet. You can take hard cat food and soak it in water until it is very soft. Use a pair of tweezers to drop the softened cat food into the baby’s mouth. They are eager eaters and will take food readily and very often. (about every 1/2 hour). When the bird is almost ready to be released, you need to teach it to eat insects. Purchase some wax worms (or meal worms) from the pet store and feed those to the bird. Then, you need to sprinkle a few in the box he is in and allow him the experience of catching them. Once he knows how to grasp his own food, you can begin the steps to letting him go. Good luck !!!
